What is Goshuin?Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage Red Ink Stamp Book!

What is a goshuin?It is a stamp that proves you have visited a shrine or temples.There are many different types of stamp rallies in Japan.I would now like to talk about the pilgrimage to the 33 Saigoku temples in the Kansai region.

What is the Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage?In 718, Tokudo Shonin of monk was ordered by King Enma to build 33 Kannon sacred sites in a dream in order to help those who are suffering in the world.This is a tour that visits 33 temples in the Kansai area.But it didn’t catch on.270 years later,Emperor Kazan restored it.This tour is for people who believe in God and Buddha.

You can get a stamp called a goshuin at every temples you visit.Stamp notebooks come in a variety of designs.You buy them on the internet or at temple.The name and description of the temple are written in Japanese.The place where you can get the stamp is a main hall.Temple numbers are irrelevant.You just have to make a pilgrimage in the same area.The price of a Goshuin is 300 yen to 500 yen.This is an interesting tour for people who like to collect things!

Kazan-in Temple in Hyogo Prefecture is a retreat temple of the person who first began the pligrimage.He neme is Emperor Kazan.

Emperor Kazan became a monk at Gankei-ji Temple in Kyoto.This is the temple’s red stamp.
