Izumo Taisha Shrine

This is a historic shrine that appears in stories of Japanese my thology.There is a reconstruction of the ancient main hall,which was twice as tall as the current one.

Matsue Castle

A castle built by Yoshiharu Horio in 1611.This castle has remaind unchanged for 400 years since it was built.It is national treasure.

Taikodani Inari Shrine

It was built in 1773 by Kamei Norisada, to pray for peace and prosperity for the Tsuwano domain and its people. It was built in the direction of the demon gate for peace of mind.

There is a charming townscape.Carp swim in the waterways and you can enjoy sightseeing at your leisure.

3.Exposure to Literature and Art!

Adachi Museum of Art

Established in 1970 by entrepreneur Zenko Adachi to give back to his hometown. The museum and this garden where the collected Japanese paintings are exhibited are famous. It has been ranked number one for 20 years in a row by the American Journal of Japanese Gardening.The garden can be seen from inside the museum. Make the natural mountain look part of the garden. That’s excellent.

Koizumi Yakumo Memorial Hall

”Yakumo Koizumi ” British name” Lafcadio Hearn”/1850~1904

He was a high school English teacher in Shimane Prefecture.He married a Japanese woman and became a naturalized citizen.

4.See the World Heritage Silver Mine!

Iwami Ginzan

Discovered in 1527. Japan’s largest silver mine, which flourished from the Sengoku period to the Edo period. It became a World Heritage Site in 2007. You can walk around the town feeling the history until the entrance of the silver mine.

5. See the scenic Spots!

Inasa Beach

This place is home to Japanese mythology.It is a power spot where gods from all over Japan gather.

Lake Shinji

This lake also contains seawater,which means you can catch delicious fish.This place is famous for seafood and clams.

6.Enter the Hot Spring!

Tamatsukuri Onsen in Matsue City is famous.Yakushiyu,located next to Iwami Silver Mine,is a hidden hot spring.

7.Let’s eat Shimane’s local food!
