Jindaiji Temple in Tokyo

History

Manko Shonin opened the mountain in 733. The temple grounds are dotted with temples, and the Shakado Hall is home to a Buddha statue that is a national treasutre. There are 20 soba restaurants on the street. Jindaiji soba has been a specialty since ancient times.

Highlights

Genzan Daishido Hall

Genzan Daishi was a monk who achieved many accomplishments, including the restoration of Enryakuji Temple on Mt. Hiei in Shiga Prefecture. Inside the hall is a nearly 2 meter seated statue of Ganzan Daishi.
